Breath & Relaxation Workshops

Practical workshops on breathing, relaxation and how the body responds to stress - inspired by the freediving approach.

Sessions built around direct experience, where people can meet the relaxation-based side of freediving in a dry-land form.

What are they about?

Modern life often keeps the body in a state of constant readiness.

The purpose of these workshops is not to add another self-optimization method on top of that state.

It is more about directly experiencing how the body responds to tension, and how it can gradually settle even in controlled stressful situations.

The focus is on presence, a sense of safety and real relaxation.

How do they work?

The workshops take place in groups, in a calm and attentive atmosphere, usually in studios or community spaces.

The programs are built from short, clear theory sections and plenty of practical experience.

The practices include simple breathing exercises, relaxation and attention exercises, and controlled breath-holds - all inspired by freediving.

The emphasis is on direct experience during the session, but the practices can also be continued individually afterwards.

Why freediving?

Most breathing or presence practices happen in calm, stress-free conditions.

Freediving, however, works with situations that are controlled and safe, but still intense enough to bring tension or readiness into the body.

Because of that, it shows very clearly how we respond to stress, control and trying too hard - and what happens when we gradually become able to let go of control and settle even in those situations.

This approach can offer a new perspective even to people who have practiced yoga, breathwork or other body-awareness methods for a long time - in a dry-land form that is accessible to everyone.

Who can it be good for?

The workshop can be especially useful for people who already practice yoga, breathing or other body-awareness methods, even if they have done so for a long time.

For people who are interested in breathing, body awareness or the calmer side of freediving, but do not necessarily want to start in the water.

For people who want to experience what it is like when the body and attention can settle even in a tense situation.

The practices can also help you recognize the bodily signs of everyday stress and experience a calmer way of responding.

No freediving or athletic background is needed for the workshops.

Collaborations

The workshops can fit well with studios and communities where breathing, presence, body awareness and a calm, human approach matter.

They can also complement yoga, movement or other body-awareness studio programs.

If you know a place or community where this could belong, feel free to reach out. At first, it is enough to briefly talk through the location, the group and what kind of session would fit there.

If this speaks to you, feel free to reach out.
